An HPMA workshop delivered by: Annette Perry of Develop Global

Target Audience:

It is aimed at any HR professional who needs to get involved in projects; as a sponsor, project manager or project team member.

Purpose:

HR teams are increasingly facing more complex, business focused delivery challenges which fall outside of “business as usual”. Having competence in project management is therefore essential to managing change and complexity in a controlled way, co-ordinating and focussing the activities of people both in delivering benefits to time, budget and quality standards.

This highly practical workshop will de-mystify project management terminology and process. It will give you the knowledge and confidence to plan the key stages of a project from business case to closedown; recognise typical causes of project success and failure; identify project roles and responsibilities; understand how HR can contribute value to business projects and help you to work credibly with project management specialists across your organisation. You will gain hints and tips and a chance to practise at key stages of the project management process and have a set of valuable project tools and templates to take away.

Session Outcomes:

At the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of effective project management and how it contributes to business success
  • Explore the roles and responsibilities associated with projects and identify personal implications
  • Define, plan and manage a project from initiation to close- down with practical templates
  • Ensure that project benefits are identified and realised, even where they may first appear “intangible”
  • Identify and manage stakeholders
  • Understand common pitfalls in HR project management and explore techniques for avoiding them
  • Increase credibility with business areas through enhanced understanding of project management process and terminology

Facilitator:

Annette Perry, Chartered MCIPD, BSc Econ (Hons) Business Administration, Post-graduate Diploma in Personnel Management

Annette is an experienced facilitator, consultant and co-active coach.  She has more than 12 years of experience as a Senior HR Business Partner and Change Manager, primarily in the financial services sector. During this time she led HR project teams that successfully delivered:

  • The HR work stream to enable the launch of a new 1500-employee operations centre in Mumbai, India
  • The design and delivery of HR frameworks for the launch of a new health insurance company
