January HPMA Newsletter now out

Our January membership newsletter is available a little early, and we hope that President Dean Royles’ words bring you a little cheer  – wishing all our members and supporters a well earned Christmas break and best wishes for the New Year. Download your copy here.

This month we have huge thanks to share for outgoing trustees Nick Grimshaw, Pat Oakley and Sally Storey; as Executive Director Nicky Ingham said at the recent AGM,  they have all offered amazing support and guidance during their terms of office and will be greatly missed. We are delighted that Damian McAlister has agreed to take the role of chair of trustees from Nick Grimshaw.

In this issue Rachael Tyler shares her powerful article on the launch of the HPMA EDI report; we have highlighted a few of London Academy pledges but you will see many more across social media  – look out for Cheryl Samuels, David Grantham, Elizabeth Nyawade, Norma French, Mary Foulkes OBE, Tanya Carter, Manjit Mahal, Phil Spivey, Eric Pirozzoli, Meera Nair and also Peter Cheese.

Hopefully many of you saw Dean’s recent article in People Management;  the research he highlighted is also discussed by supporter Arran Heal from CMP,  and we hope many of you will join the report author Professor Richard Saundry at the HPMA webinar event on Wed 20 January (4-6pm) (book here).

If you missed any of the HPMA UK Conference – you can still find all the sessions on demand on the HPMA website – we can’t thank our sponsors and supporters enough, so forgive another shout out to Selenity, Locums Nest and Liaison Group! After Helen Bevan’s session, like us, you may have been intrigued by #ProjectM so we’ve asked Caroline Chipperfield to tell us more, plus articles from contributors Bright Horizons and Naveen Keerthi from Doc2UK can answer some of the questions you didn’t have time for in the conference expo.

We’re also delighted to bring you an article from recent HPMA Scotland Culture of Kindness webinar speaker Ben Thurman from The Carnegie Trust, UHMBT on their top inclusive employer win and a teaser from skincare produce Nursem who will be playing a part in our #wellbeing Wednesday campaign in January!
