The Aspiring Leaders Programme 2026 – 27

For London South Central and South East HPMA Members.

The Aspiring Leaders Programme is for people professionals who have been identified as having the potential and the ambition to move into a leadership role within the people profession and likely to take the next step in your career within the next 12 – 18 months (most likely into a business partner or head of service role).

Outcomes

The programme is grounded in the practicalities of working in the NHS wider healthcare environment and has been designed to deliver the following learning outcomes:

Increase self-awareness and personal presence/impact/influencing skills

Understand and strengthen the skills and competencies required to work as an effective Business Partner or Head of Service in any functional area of the people directorate  

To gain greater insight into your current leadership style and better understand the kind of leader to be in the future

Understand the strategic drivers affecting the future of health and work and your role as a leader in leading change and improving health outcome

Understand how to test and apply new skills knowledge through gaining a deeper understanding of your organisation/system.

These outcomes will be gained through a number of developmental components which have been designed to optimise the capability, capacity and potential of each participant.

By applying for this programme you are signing up to attend all its components which are outlined in the application pack.

To apply for the 2026-27 Programme please:

• Read the programme summary and dates to ensure you are available to attend all components of the programme;

• Complete the application form using the competency framework providing appropriate examples as part of your personal statement;

• Ensure your sponsor/manager complete a statement of support;

• Ensure the organisation can acknowledge and agree the funding of your application pending successful acceptance on the programme

• Submit your application by the closing date of 19 June 2026

Closing date extended to 23 June 2026 at 12 noon
