North West
The North West branch has welcomed a number of new members to the Committee, including a new Branch Chair, Claire Scrafton, and Deputy Chair, Adam Harrison-Moran. Our NW Branch Committee has a renewed drive to deliver a branch offer to members which promotes the people profession in its entirety. Blending existing and new members to the Committee has resulted in the branch going from strength to strength. The Committee members are excited by the continued development of a North Academy and look forward to working to support its development, and that the offers from the national academy and branch, complement and enhance each other’s specific focus.
Branch meetings are held quarterly, and in the North West these are supplemented by the Liaison Officers from each of the member organisations who meet bi-monthly to discuss and contribute to the current and future programme, including emerging themes throughout the year where the HPMA could provide support to its members.
The branch has developed a core offer that builds on the traditional HR and OD provision and extends into a People Professional offer – targeted at all levels. This more planned way of working has enabled the branch to successfully market the work of the HPMA across the North West, resulting in all workshops being sponsored and delivered by independent providers, who provide their time and experience to support the work of the HPMA. In addition to the employment law events provided by a panel of legal organisations, the branch has expanded the programme to include support across all people functions to now offer events and training covering e.g. Equality Diversity & Inclusion, Resourcing, Workforce intelligence & Analytics, OD and Career conversations, and is developing and piloting a professional support framework for the people profession that could in the future be shared nationally.
The branch continues to explore social media communication to raise awareness of the value of HPMA membership and especially that of the NW Branch.
