HPMA (Healthcare People Management Association) is a charitable organisation that started up in 1974 and has branches across the NHS in the UK. HPMA aims to enable the delivery of high impact HR in the NHS by improving the capability, practice, and impact of HR and OD practitioners in healthcare. The HPMA collaborates with a variety of partners, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
HPMA Scotland is the Scottish Branch made up of a committee of volunteers working across HR, L&D, and OD in NHS Scotland at various levels of their career journey. We aim to connect with other HPMA Branches nationally to shape the direction of the HPMA and share best practices and learn from other HR and OD professionals across the NHS and beyond. We represent Scotland at national meetings and support the annual HPMA National awards ceremony with one of our members on the judging panel. We will also endeavor to raise the profile of NHS in Scotland as an exemplary employer across the UK.
For our Scottish member boards and the practitioners within them, we aim to offer personal learning and development opportunities and a space to network with colleagues across NHS Scotland. We do so by arranging an annual roadshow showcasing best practice, new learning, and a strategic overview of all that is fresh and current in HR and OD. We also organise other Scottish branch events with speakers from both within and out with NHS in Scotland. In addition, we share articles and news items via our social media Linkedin group and on twitter. We also offer support and advice for boards who wish to enter the HPMA National awards.
We work hard to maintain and grow membership and are modifying our current events offer to utilise digital delivery methods during Covid 19.
