The North East and Cumbria branch of the HPMA came into effect in December 2018. As a fledgling branch we have focussed on raising the branches profile by communicating activities through committee members and the HR Director network supported by the Vice President, Morven Smith, Director of Workforce and OD at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust. Trusts are provided with regular up-dates on the committeeís work and what is open to them from their membership.
We explored the benefits of establishing an Events sub group to the committee to engage with the wider Workforce and OD community and promote the branch without the requirement to become a full committee member. The focus of the committee is to facilitate a programme of events that will develop and engage Workforce and OD colleagues of all bands and expertise. The branch held its first event in July 2019 and due to feedback and unprecedented interest in this event, the committee have revised and expanded on its original schedule of events. The committee have invested a great deal of time to ensure these events are valid informative and offer value for money to member Trusts.
The first North East and Cumbria branch Roadshow is planned for October 2019 and will focus on the ‘Workforce of the Future’. The Roadshow has a fantastic line up of speakers and will offer members the opportunity to network with Workforce and OD professionals from across the region.
Themes for planned future events include Workforce Analytics, Workforce Planning, Coaching and legislative based events facilitated in conjunction with commercial partners.
The branch continues to welcome new members and forge sustainable relationships with regional and national commercial partners.
