The Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) is the professional voice of HR in health care in the UK and has over 4,000 members. We have a strong branch network that covers the whole of the UK and our aim is to support and develop our members to improve our people management contribution to health care and ultimately patient care.
As a key part of this branch network, the HPMA Northern Ireland branch is very active and runs a variety of learning and development events each year. We take feedback from our members on what areas they would like to develop with an aim to improve HR working lives and deliver the very best of learning and practice to our members. We run 4 events each year including our annual 2 day conference and awards dinner.
HPMA Northern Ireland represents 8 member organisations – Belfast Trust, Northern Trust, Southern Trust, South Eastern Trust, Western Trust, BSO, NIAS and NIMDTA. This equates to over 500 members throughout Northern Ireland. Our Branch Committee is representative of our member organisations and meet regularly to focus on future plans and discuss what topics are relevant and upcoming for our members. The Committee supports this work through 4 subgroups: Development, Conference, Engagement and Events.
We have recently designed a development programme for Band 3 – 5 staff which is due to launch in Autumn 2019. The programme will focus on building the knowledge of participants on all aspects of HR to aid understanding of their role and the wider system while supporting their career development to encourage readiness for progression to more senior HR roles.
