Yes! You also need to be a paid up member of the HPMA.

Participants should choose a category that best fits their project. There can be overlap in some of the categories and it is up to the entrant to choose which is most appropriate for their project. A project or initiative should be entered into only one category. The HPMA reserves the right to move entries to other categories if it is clearly appropriate to do so. Please call the awards team to talk over your entry and category suitability.

Yes, you may enter as many separate projects as you wish. However each project should only be entered into one category.

The judges are invited and nominated from the HPMA membership (representing the HPMA council and HPMA branches). Additional judges are invited and nominated from the sponsoring organisations, health departments and sector specialists or HR professionals may apply to be a judge.

There is a two stage judging process; initially entries are scored against criteria by our shortlisting judges. Top scoring entries are shortlisted and invited to interview for a second assessment by a live judging panel. The process is slightly modified for Rising Star, HRD of the year and Lifetime achievement, where there is no interview but still an additional assessment.

Yes, you simply need to log into the awards platform after the period of shortlisting ends. Entrants will be notified. Please note judges are encouraged to comment on all entries but we can not guarantee every project receives feedback.

For each of the categories, the HPMA will normally select three finalists which represent the best in the category, and invite them to make presentations for the judging panels. From these finalists, one winner will be selected and will win the coveted award in that category.

We reserve the right to honour more or less than three finalists in any category should the quality of work exceed or not meet the standards set by the judging criteria.

The HPMA provides award winners and finalists with a trophy, framed certificate and an icon for the winners’ websites or publications. All finalists projects are summarised on the HPMA site and appear in the compendium of winning entries.

Yes, finalists will be given the opportunity to purchase additional copies of their trophies or certificates after the awards ceremony.

The HPMA award winners are honoured at a black tie dinner and ceremony, this year the event will be held in Belfast on 4 June (day one of the national conference). The awards celebration is a major event where you get to rub shoulders with other winners and HR professionals and luminaries. Each project team reaching the final receives two free tickets to the awards ceremony IF they are members of HPMA.
