We held our first face-to-face annual conference event since before the pandemic on the 20th of May, 2024. The event was held at the Eastside rooms in Birmingham, where they supported us in making this a special occasion. Over 75 members from across the West Midlands enjoyed networking and the host of speakers and topics showcased on the day.
We intentionally chose the 20th of May to coincide with International HR Day to celebrate and recognise the tremendous work being done across the region by our amazingly talented people.
There was an opportunity to network with our legal partners, Capsticks, Mills and Reeves, Brown Jacobson and Bevan Brittan. The agenda was built around the ‘HR Shaping the New Future’ theme. Guests were able to understand more about:
- Collaborating beyond traditional boundaries and the legal implications of working in cross-organisational partnerships.
- Tackling racial discrimination and understanding how this supports creating an inclusive culture and the legal obligations for organisations.
- Find ways to unlock your wellness potential and take pride in knowing your worth.
- Exploring how to hold onto your values when dealing with toxic behaviours or cultures and how to foster a compassion-focused culture using culture reviews.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Committee, which has worked tirelessly to arrange and deliver all of our events, especially Sharon Wynne, a dedicated committee member for many years. We also bid farewell to our Vice President, David Holmes, whose instrumental role in the branch’s success and development over the last 12 years is deeply appreciated. Frieza and Cathi now share the role of Vice president and will continue to ensure our organisations get fantastic value from their membership.
Your feedback is invaluable to us. We have received some fantastic insights and will use this, along with emerging trends, to continue to shape our events throughout the year. We deeply appreciate everyone who participated and all of our colleagues who attended the day. We eagerly look forward to seeing you at events throughout the year.
