Applications now OPEN for HPMA North Academy’s Business Partner Programme
HPMA North Academy is opening our application process for all HR and OD Business Partners in bands 6 – 8a.
The programme is for HR and OD Professionals who have been in a business partner role for two years or less. Participants should also be from an HPMA member organisation in Northwest, North East and Cumbria, or Yorkshire and Humber branches. It’s a six-month programme with 360 assessment, core modules, mentoring, business projects and a final ‘bringing it to life’ Graduation event. It will run from 20 October 2022 to 20 April 2022.
The closing date for applications is 4pm on Friday, 30th September.

More about the programme:
The programme has been designed and implemented through collaboration between the HPMA North Academy and Orion Partners who have a wealth of experience in providing development programmes for Business Partners across different sectors including the NHS.
We anticipate delivering a hybrid programme of online (using Zoom) and in person sessions. Online and in person sessions will generally be in small groups of 8 to 10 delegates. There will be a final ‘bringing it to life’ Graduation Event which we plan to deliver in person. Please ensure you have access to Zoom, with good Wi-Fi and video camera before you apply.
The programme will commence on Thursday, 20th October and all elements of the programme will conclude by end of May 2023.
Eligibility for the Programme:
The programme is for HR and OD Professionals who have been in a business partner role for 2 years or less. Participants should also be from a HPMA member organisation in either the Northwest, Northeast and Cumbria, or Yorkshire and Humber branches.
This programme is open to existing Business Partners (with 2 years or less experience)
We anticipate that applicants will currently be in a band 6 – 8a roles. Applicants will be required to have the support of their line manager or current Director to act as sponsor and provide a statement of support for the applicant.
Format of the Programme:
The Business Partner Programme has been designed to deliver the following learning objectives for each participant:
- Increase self-awareness and personal presence/impact/influencing skills
- Understand and strengthen the skills and competencies required to work as an effective Business Partner
- Understand how to work with the wider workforce team in the delivery of an effective Business Partner function
- Understand how the Business Partner role can become an equal partner in the delivery of high quality corporate and clinical services.
- Understand how to test and apply new skills on a business project of relevance/importance in your employer
These learning objectives will be delivered through a number of developmental components which have been designed to optimise the capability, capacity and potential of each participant.
