The FutureFocus Workforce Planning webinar sponsored by GoodShape took place on Thursday 20 January (10 – 1pm). The event was been developed with the support of members and will offer the chance for attendees to hear from experts speakers as well as debate the pressing challenges and approaches in this critical area. Chris Carron is the Vice-President for HPMA Scotland and the Workforce Lead for The Scottish Government
Dr Pat Oakley is a strategic service and workforce policy analyst and development specialist with over 35 years’ health and public service experience. She has worked extensively with national policy-makers and trust boards, executive directors and senior clinicians, and with service managers and clinical practitioners, in developing their strategies to deliver affordable public services.
Colm Byrne qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1981 and as a Social Worker in 1986. In a career spanning over 40 years he has held senior positions in Local Authorities, the NHS, private sector and third sector, including 13 years as a Senior Trade Union official and Deputy Director of Workforce at a large NHS Acute Trust. He is currently a Director of HR in the private sector and joined GoodShape as a freelance consultant in 2021.
Julie Rogers, Deputy Chief Executive/ Director of Workforce and OD, HEIW A chartered fellow of the CIPD, Julie has worked in the Welsh public sector for over 35 years. She has enjoyed a varied career spanning a wide range of social policy development, OD and HR roles. In 2013, Julie became the National Workforce & Organisational Development Director for NHS Wales, a role that she held until April 2018 when she joined HEIW. During her tenure, she oversaw the development of the first national ‘Primary Care Workforce Plan for Wales’ and the innovative NHS Wales recruitment campaign ‘This is Wales. TrainWorkLive’, aimed at recruiting more trainees, GPs and health professionals into Wales.
