The HPMA London Academy and the London Deputy Directors of HR Network, with the support of NHS Employers, are delighted to launch the
This toolkit provides a practical step by step guide for people professionals wanting to get on board, feel part of something and to play their part in the #InclusiveHR social movement for change and implement the ‘5 step challenge to change’.
The overarching purpose of this toolkit is to equip people professional leaders with the knowledge and confidence to address the racial inequalities that exist across the people profession in the NHS.
The toolkit provides information on the demographic data for the profession, demonstrating the disproportionate underrepresentation of black, Asian and minority ethnic people professionals in senior roles. It also provides information from our independent research into the lived experience of HR and OD colleagues and the action taken in London to address the findings, which led to the genesis of #InclusiveHR. Finally the toolkit provides guidance for colleagues taking forward the ‘5 step challenge to change’ and a wide range of practical resources to support you on this journey to creating a more inclusive and credible profession that leads by example.
Our vision is that #InclusiveHR and the ‘5 step challenge to change’ is adopted nationally across the NHS and beyond, leading to a positive step change in the experience of black, Asian and ethnic minority people professionals. The success of this social movement is dependent upon all HR & OD professionals getting involved, taking control of their own learning, owning the disparities, and taking charge to create a brighter future.
